A Day at ACE

A Day at ACE

At ACE, we do high school differently. Rather than focusing on lectures and seat time, ACE shifts the focus of high school education onto real world projects and experiences that allow students to put what they’re learning into practice. Want to learn more about what it’s like to attend ACE as a student? Come with us to take a peek behind the scenes.

Morning Meeting

At ACE, we kick off every school day with a Morning Meeting. Before classes start, students gather for announcements, updates, and event reminders. We also use this time to celebrate birthdays and recognize student achievements. Morning Meeting allows our students and educators to start the day off right by taking time to connect and bond as part of the ACE team.

Advisory

After Morning Meeting, students head to Advisory, where they get essential support and coaching around topics like college and career exploration, reading, social practices, and emotional well-being. Students also take part in team-building activities to get to know their peers and teachers.

Lunch

After Morning Project, it’s time for Lunch! All students at ACE receive free breakfast and lunch during school hours. ACE also brings in local food trucks so students can purchase a variety of meal options. During lunch, students take a break from learning to play different games and sports like basketball, football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, and tetherball. The campus pond is a popular lunch spot with our students, who often enjoy their food while watching the pond’s resident ducks and fish.

Electives

Electives are a unique part of ACE. Many electives are designed by our creative teachers to fulfill the interests of students, while also serving academic course requirements. Some notable electives include our cooking class, Electricity 101, Digital Design, American Sign Language, and more—not to mention traditional classes like PE and Health.

After School Projects

After classes are done for the day, ACE also provides after-school learning opportunities and activities. We have created welding, drywall, and cooking classes for students so that they can continue to pursue their interests and strengths with support and connection from the ACE team.

Evening Program

ACE’s evening program is for students up to the age of 22 who want to pursue their high school diploma in a non-traditional setting. Oftentimes students in our evening program have dropped out, started a family or career, or just need a different learning environment that provides more flexibility. Like our traditional students, evening students learn through ACE’s project-based, learning-by-doing approach—enjoying the benefits of a highly supportive, hands-on educational environment that works on their schedule.
